Starting a Game

If you downloaded the game as a zip-archive, extract it to a new folder. Be sure to preserve the subfolders of the archive.

An adventure game is defined by a file with the extension adv. To run the game, you need the executable AdvPlay.exe.

There are at least three ways to start an adventure game:

  1. Run AdvPlay.exe and select the adv-file of the adventure game you want to play.
  2. Associate the file extension adv with the program AdvPlay.exe using the windows explorer. Then, you can start adv-files by double-clicking them in the explorer.
  3. Drop an adv-file onto AdvPlay.exe or a link to it.

When you start ADePT for the first time, you may choose the language of the menu and the game interface if more than one language is available. In addition, you may choose how to install ADePT by creating shortcuts and file type associations.

At start-up, a splash screen is displayed. If the display size is not optimal for the actual game, it contains an area with the opportunity to switch to the optimal display size by clicking on it. If you do so, the former display size will be restored when you exit the game.
